Although an annoyance as they bully and eat everything in sight these Herring Gulls make wonderful photography subjects. Bold as brass they allow you to get nice and close and are always ready for their close ups !
Although usually a ground feeder this little Dunnock has found the dovecote and now feeds from there.
It’s lucky that the greens like the frost in the vegetable patch.
Either a scared Polyanthus or early Primrose ( polyanthus usually on a stem – but who would want to be on a tall stem this weather!?)
In January the garden provides it’s own decorations to replace the ones that we take down.
I love the Starling’s winter plumage, they are such beautiful and intelligent birds.
Our Witch Hazel seems a little behind this year, but it will soon be coated in yellow flowers.
